The Southern Cur

Southern Blackmouth Curs are the quintessential canine pets. They come in a variety of shades such as red, yellow, buckskin and brindle. Although unknown by many people, they are instantly recognized by the name "Old Yeller."

Though the black muzzle is a prized trait by many, this is not the reason for the name, "Blackmouth." The dark lip pigment and ever-deepening shade of the interior of the mouth is this dog's namesake. Some Blackmouth Curs boast a dark muzzle; some do not.
